Image of a student's artworkMy daughter attended TLG center in Finderne from infants through Kindergarten. She loved the program and it prepared her well for the rest of her schooling. I believe in this program so much that 13 years later I am still on the Board of Directors of TLG and my daughter is attending the college of her choice.

"I was really worried when I looked at daycare centers and home daycare for my baby.  I wanted the best but was unsure how to find it.  I feel like I lucked out with the Learning Gate.  Their infant staff has been there for many years, and they knew exactly how to care for my son, even with his nebulizer machine when he was sick.  The staff's dedication to the kids and the individual attention they give still impresses me.  I'm a big fan."

My children attended the Learning Gate in Raritan from 2003 to 2005.  The teachers were excellent.  They were willing to take the time with me to explain how my children were feeling each day as well as make suggestions when I asked.  They helped develop my children's social skills, speech and beginning reading and math skills.  Unlike some of the similarly priced day care centers in the area, the teachers spoke English well.  My daughter has fond memories of her teacher whose country of birth is India.  She remembers that when it is day here it is night time in India.

The director is very professional and cares deeply about all of "her" children.  She insures that the operating budget and tuition income is used for the children's programs not wasted on administrative overhead.

Whenever I had a question or concern, the small administrative staff always knew who I was and who my children were even though they "worked in the office".  Had I needed to call some accounts payable person or discussed a in another state I would never have gotten the feeling of family from that organization.

The local control and family-centered feeling pervades every part of the center.

This is an open letter to anyone looking for more information on The Learning Gate.

Deciding to send your child to daycare is never an easy decision.  A parent is torn between wanting to do the "traditional right thing" of staying home, or the more necessary option of continuing  to work.

My husband and I both had careers and we wanted a family so when I became pregnant, we decided to try to find a local day care that we could trust and that would provide the kind of care we wanted for our child.

We found The Learning Gate and never once regretted our decision.

My baby was only 6 weeks old when she started at the center and although I cried all the way to work that day, I was relieved to find her well taken care of when I returned to pick her up.  She and my son attended The Learning Gate through kindergarten.

Today my children are both in their early twenties.  My daughter is a graduate student at Rutgers and my son is a freelance artist.  They are motivated, moral, intelligent and fun-loving children that never got involved in anything that would cause me worry.

I am confident that most of who they are today came from how they were cared for when they ere younger.  Yes, my husband and I like to think we were good parents, but I can also tell you that The Learning Gate provided such individualized care and learning for my children that I never had to worry about how thy were spending their day.  The staff became family to me.  Some of us even socialized outside of the center.  I have gone back to visit and was warmly welcomed.  We have so many fond memories...too many to list!

Deepest gratitude to The Learning Center and special thanks always to Vicki, Kathy, Monica, Mr. Dick, Miss Wynn and Miss Maureen, Miss Mary and Miss Maria.  Your warmth is reflected in my children.
